These innovative battery packs will utilize a new cylindrical cell design that prioritizes energy density and cost-effectiveness. The company's shift is projected to reduce battery costs to under $100 per kilowatt-hour, a target that will greatly improve the price competitiveness of their electric vehicles in an increasingly crowded market.

BMW's production facility in Sachsen, Germany, will be at the forefront of this battery revolution, with plans to manufacture these advanced cells on a large scale. As part of their sustainability goals, BMW aims to ensure that by 2030, at least 50% of their global sales will be from electric vehicles, marking a strong commitment to eco-friendly automotive innovation.
