SpaceX and Vast Collaborate for Cutting-Edge Space Station with Starlink Integration

SpaceX and Vast have joined forces to integrate Starlink into their upcoming commercial space station, Haven-1. Scheduled for a Falcon 9 launch no earlier than August 2025, Haven-1 will feature Starlink terminals to ensure high-speed communication for its occupants via SpaceX's network.

Vast CEO Max Haot emphasized the indispensability of SpaceX Starlink for providing high-speed, low-latency internet connectivity in space. Beyond facilitating crew communication, occupants will be able to connect personal devices to the network via Wi-Fi, enabling enhanced outreach and scientific endeavors.

This collaboration follows Vast and SpaceX's 2023 announcement of launching Haven-1 as an independent outpost, preceding the deployment of Crew Dragons to the station for crew rotations lasting up to 30 days per stint.

Haven-1, tailored to fit within a Falcon 9 fairing, marks SpaceX's debut launch of a crewed habitat. Vast envisions connecting Haven-1 to a future space station currently under development.

Additionally, Vast plans a larger variant to launch atop a SpaceX Starship rocket, consisting of seven modules, each 7 meters in diameter, and ultimately extending to 100 meters in length. Both Haven-1 and the larger station are designed to rotate in orbit to simulate gravity for crew comfort and facilitate experiments.
