The announcement came during a press conference held on March 5, 2025, where CEO Elon Musk emphasized the importance of expanding Tesla's production capabilities. "This new megafactory will not only increase our output but also allow us to meet the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions," Musk stated. The location, strategically positioned near the Houston Port, facilitates efficient transportation and logistics for shipments.

Local officials and business leaders have lauded the decision, believing it will significantly contribute to the region's economy. According to projections, the factory is expected to produce up to 40 gigawatt-hours of battery storage annually, which is enough to power around 32,000 homes for a year.
