In 2024, Tesla reaffirmed its stronghold in the U.S. electric vehicle (EV) market, selling a staggering 633,762 units, surpassing the combined sales of General Motors (GM) and Ford by more than three to one. Despite experiencing its first year-over-year sales decline of 1.1%, Tesla's sales figures distinctly overshadow the competition, solidifying its leading position in the industry.
General Motors and Ford followed with sales of 112,897 and 97,865 EVs, respectively, emphasizing the gap between Tesla and other manufacturers. Hyundai, Kia, Rivian, and Honda rounded out the top sellers list, but none came close to the Tesla figures.
Quarterly data revealed that total EV sales in Q4 increased by 15.2%, culminating in a record year-end total of 1.3 million units sold across all brands. Tesla's Model Y and Model 3 were pivotal in this success, demonstrating the continued demand for its offerings.
