Tesla Extends Free Trial for Full Self-Driving Feature

In a recent move, Tesla owners are reporting on social media that their Full Self-Driving (FSD) trials have been extended by an additional 30 days. This extension appears to apply not only to new users but also to those who are currently subscribed to FSD on a monthly basis.

During its Q3 2024 earnings call, Tesla emphasized its commitment to the success of the FSD system, which is crucial for future vehicle platforms like the Cybercab and Robovan. The company's focus on familiarizing its customer base with the capabilities of FSD is clear, as it seeks to showcase the potential of its advanced driver-assistance technology.

Multiple Tesla owners have shared screenshots revealing notifications from the company, stating that their "30-day complimentary trial for Full Self-Driving (Supervised)" has been extended. For those with an active FSD (Supervised) subscription, an additional 30 days of complimentary access will be added to their vehicles.

While Tesla has not provided specific reasons for this trial extension, it seems likely that the company aims to encourage more users to experience the advanced features of FSD. The timing is particularly relevant, as the Tesla AI team has hinted at the imminent release of FSD Version 13, expected sometime in October.

Historically, Tesla has faced challenges in meeting self-imposed deadlines, but the AI team has demonstrated reliability in delivering on time, as seen with recent feature rollouts for the Cybertruck and the Actually Smart Summon (A.S.S.). With this trend, many are hopeful that FSD Version 13 will soon be available, further enhancing the driving experience for Tesla owners.
