Tesla has begun deploying its first software update (2025.8.6) for the refreshed Model Y, introducing an expanded beta version of its Auto Shift feature. One owner confirmed that the update enables three-point turns, a capability not present in earlier iterations. The system assists in shifting between Park (P), Drive (D), and Reverse (R) based on surroundings, though drivers must verify the suggested mode before accelerating. The feature remains limited to specific scenarios, requiring manual input via the drive mode strip when inactive.

The update also brings significant energy management enhancements, allowing drivers to view consumption data for the last 10, 100, or 200 miles and clear energy history. Tesla notes that battery estimates now factor in all usage patterns and adapt over time based on driving behavior. Additionally, a new Battery Health Test measures energy retention since the vehicle’s purchase, accessible via Controls > Service > Battery Health. Select 2022–2024 Model Y units also gain cabin radar functionality, previously exclusive to the refreshed variant.
Other improvements include refined voice guidance that stops instantly upon trip completion and an upgraded rainbow road visualization that no longer overlaps with Autopilot’s blue display. Cybertruck owners receive steer-by-wire refinements and app-based air suspension adjustments, while Model 3s now default to Standard Ride & Handling during Autopilot engagement—a setting adjustable in the Dynamics menu. The update also delivers undocumented security fixes across Tesla’s lineup.
