Tesla Slashes Model Y Prices by Up to $8000 Ahead of Updated Release

Tesla has announced significant price reductions on the outgoing Model Y, with discounts reaching up to $8000 as the company prepares for the launch of an updated model in May 2025. The price cuts apply to pre-update stock, with the Tesla Australia website showcasing discounts of $4000 on the Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant and $7000 off the Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD) model. The Performance version sees the largest reduction, with an $8000 cut before applicable stamp duties.

These price adjustments aim to clear out existing inventory before the facelifted Model Y arrives. In Victoria, the most affordable Model Y RWD is priced at $59,900, excluding on-road costs, while the cheapest un-optioned model in Western Australia starts at $53,700 after discounts. The Long Range AWD begins at $68,600, and the Performance variant is available from $80,800, including order and delivery fees.

The discounts will be available until March 31, 2025, or while stocks last. This move follows previous price cuts of up to $9500 for the Model 3 and Model Y in 2024, reflecting Tesla's ongoing strategy to remain competitive in the electric vehicle market.
