Tesla to Offer Cybertruck Battery Armor and Rock Sliders Soon

Tesla’s Cybertruck has quickly become a standout for off-road enthusiasts, with numerous impressive videos showcasing its rugged capabilities. However, many owners and fans have expressed a desire for enhanced protection to further boost its off-road performance. In response, Tesla will soon offer Battery Armor and Rock Sliders as retrofit options, with availability expected by the end of 2024.

Battery Armor

The Cybertruck’s underbody is currently equipped with some protection, but it may not be enough for the toughest off-road conditions. The new Battery Armor will address this, offering added protection against potential damage from sharp rocks or uneven terrain. This upgrade will be comparable to off-road armor available from other manufacturers, such as Rivian, which sells a comprehensive armor package for $3,950 USD or $5,800 CAD, including additional features like a 20” wheel upgrade and utility panel. Unlike Rivian’s package, which must be purchased with the vehicle, Tesla’s Battery Armor will be available as a retrofit, allowing existing owners to upgrade their trucks.

Rock Sliders

Another addition to the Cybertruck’s off-road arsenal will be Rock Sliders. These components are essential for protecting the vehicle’s lower edges from rocks and debris. While aftermarket options are available, Tesla’s OEM Rock Sliders will provide a more integrated solution. Third-party rock sliders often use the vehicle's lift points for attachment, complicating tasks like tire changes or vehicle lifts. Tesla’s Rock Sliders, being a first-party option, promise a more seamless fit and easier maintenance.

Release Date

Tesla plans to introduce these accessories in the coming months, alongside the Winter Tire Package, which is set to be available next month. These enhancements will be available for retrofit before the end of 2024, offering Cybertruck owners even more ways to customize and protect their vehicles.
