Tesla's Cybertruck Sales Surge, But Luxury Model S X Take a Hit in USA

Tesla's Cybertruck sales in the US have seen a significant boost in 2024, with the company delivering 12,991 units in the fourth quarter and 38,965 units throughout the year. This is despite the fact that the Cybertruck only started deliveries in late November 2023, making 2024 its first full year of sales.

However, the success of the Cybertruck has come at the cost of other luxury models, with Tesla's Model S and X sales experiencing a considerable decline. Model S sales dropped 31% to 12,426 units last year, while Model X sales declined 20% to 19,855 units. In fact, the company cumulatively sold just 32,281 Model S and X units, fewer than the number of Cybertruck units sold.

The decline in luxury model sales is a concern for Tesla, as it has been its main driver of revenue growth in the US market. Despite this, the company still managed to sell a total of 633,762 units in the US in 2024, a 5.6% year-on-year decline. Tesla remains the best-selling electric vehicle (EV) brand in the US, with a huge margin separating it from its closest competitor, Ford.
