Tesla Cybertruck Earns Spot as the Third Best-Selling EV in the U.S. for Q3 2024

In a recent report by Cox Automotive, the Tesla Cybertruck has emerged as the third best-selling electric vehicle (EV) in the United States for the third quarter of 2024, trailing only behind the Tesla Model Y and Model 3. The Model Y secured the top spot with impressive sales, while the Model 3 followed closely in second place.

According to Kelley Blue Book’s Electric Vehicle Sales Report for Q3 2024, Tesla continues to dominate the EV market in the U.S., selling a staggering 166,923 vehicles during this period. Cumulatively, the company has sold 471,374 vehicles so far this year, representing nearly 50% of the nation's electric vehicle market.

Among the noteworthy highlights of the report was the Cybertruck's performance, with a total of 16,692 units sold in Q3 and 28,250 year-to-date. This remarkable achievement positions the Cybertruck as a leader in the battery electric pickup truck category, significantly outperforming competitors like the Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, and Chevrolet Silverado EV, which collectively sold only 12,974 units in the same quarter.

The sales figures underscore the dominance of the Model Y, which alone accounted for 86,801 units sold in Q3 and has seen 284,831 units sold year-to-date. This translates to a remarkable 30.1% share of the U.S. electric vehicle market. Meanwhile, the Model 3 sedan sold 58,423 units in Q3, totaling 131,975 units for the year. These figures emphasize the Model 3's continued appeal, particularly following its recent upgrades, despite being produced in fewer locations than the Model Y.
