Tesla Unveils 'Actually Smart Summon' and 'Dumb Summon': A New Era of Vehicle Management

Tesla has officially introduced its long-awaited features, Actually Smart Summon (ASS) and Dumb Summon, following years of anticipation. These functionality enhancements, included in the latest software update, revolutionize how Tesla owners interact with their vehicles.

Actually Smart Summon enables users to summon their cars directly from a parking spot to a specific location nearby, such as picking you up right outside the grocery store. Imagine avoiding the hassle of dragging bags through a crowded lot while your car comes to you at the tap of a button on the Tesla app.

Accompanying this feature, Dumb Summon allows users to manually move their vehicle forward or backward. The release notes describe the experience as "like magic but with more tech and less hand-waving." Using the Tesla app, drivers can initiate these maneuvers while keeping an eye on their cars. With the Summon tab, a live feed from the car’s cameras helps ensure a safe operation.

To utilize these features, simply press and hold on the app to either summon your Tesla or set a destination for it to navigate to. You can halt the process at any time by releasing the button, putting you in total control.

It's essential to remember that ASS and Dumb Summon are designed for use in parking lots or driveways, requiring constant vigilance from the user. These advanced features are currently available only for vehicles equipped with Hardware 4, with plans for Hardware 3 compatibility in the weeks ahead.

Note: Ensure your Tesla app is updated to version 4.36.6 or later to access these new features.
