Tesla Introduces License Plate Display Feature in Vehicle Visualization

Tesla's latest update, version 2024.38, is being rolled out, bringing exciting features to its electric vehicles. Insights from prominent Tesla hacker Greentheonly reveal that one noticeable addition may allow drivers to display their actual license plates on the vehicle's screen visualization. This feature, highly requested by Tesla owners, aims to replace the standard blank white plate with a customizable representation of their license plate.

Currently, indications suggest that this feature might initially launch in China, where Tesla's software development team is actively working on it. Users will reportedly have the option to input their actual license plate numbers or get creative with a personalized display. This can be particularly helpful for drivers who might struggle to remember their license plate numbers, enhancing the vehicle’s digital interface.

While this feature is currently identified in the 2024.38 update, it may not yet be active in Chinese vehicles. However, given Tesla's history, it’s anticipated that this feature will eventually roll out globally, similar to past updates like the Air Quality Index display and trip meter enhancements.

In addition to the license plate display, the update also simplifies identifying the vehicle’s hardware version. Owners can now check if their vehicle has Hardware 2.5, 3, or 4 through the menu's Additional Vehicle Information section.

Other enhancements include a revamped Battery Health Test that compares a car's performance against others in its class and improvements in Service Mode, with upgraded visualizations planned. These updates collectively signify Tesla's commitment to enhancing user experience through innovative features and functionalities.
