Tesla Slashes Prices for CCS Adapters and Retrofits Across North America

Tesla has announced significant price reductions for its CCS (Combo 1) adapters and retrofits across North America, including the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

CCS Adapter Pricing

Tesla has cut the price of its CCS adapter from $250 USD to $125 USD (from $345 CAD to $175 CAD), marking a 50% discount. This makes Tesla’s CCS adapter one of the most affordable options on the market. The CCS1 standard was widely used by non-Tesla EVs before Tesla introduced its own NACS standard. With the CCS adapter, Tesla vehicles—either retrofitted or newly built post-retrofit—can now charge at any standard CCS station.

CCS Retrofit Pricing

The CCS retrofit is designed for Tesla vehicles manufactured before September 2022 (varies by model and region), allowing them to charge at CCS stations with a compatible CCS-to-NACS adapter. Vehicles built before this date will require the retrofit to access CCS charging stations. The retrofit package includes a CCS adapter, though the adapter cannot be purchased separately to reduce the cost. Pricing varies for the Model S/X and Model 3/Y.

Checking Retrofit Needs

To determine if your vehicle requires a retrofit, navigate to Controls > Software > Additional Vehicle Information. Look for the “CCS Charging and third-party NACS DC charging” line to see if your vehicle supports third-party CCS charging or needs a retrofit.

NACS to CCS Adapter Production Surge

In addition to price cuts, Tesla has significantly ramped up production of the NACS-to-CCS adapter for non-NACS vehicles approved for Tesla Superchargers, reaching a record 8,000 units per week.

Tesla continues to lead the way in streamlining EV charging standards and improving efficiency across North America, reinforcing its commitment to advancing electric vehicle infrastructure.
