PepsiCo to Enhance EV Fleet in California with Tesla Trucks and Ford Vans

PepsiCo announced on Tuesday its plan to broaden its electric vehicle (EV) fleet in California by introducing 50 Tesla Semi trucks and 75 Ford E-Transit vans at its state facilities over the upcoming months. This initiative is part of PepsiCo’s strategy to accelerate the electrification of its service fleet in California, aiming for net zero emissions by 2040.

Initially, PepsiCo ordered 100 Tesla Semis in 2017, marking the largest public order for these vehicles at that time.

Despite this, Reuters revealed in April that PepsiCo had only received 36 out of the 100 Tesla trucks initially ordered, indicating a significant delivery gap.

The newly announced Tesla Semis will be deployed from PepsiCo's manufacturing plant in Fresno, California.

To support this expansion, PepsiCo is utilizing funds from a grant provided by the California Air Resources Board, the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, and the California Energy Commission.
